This seems to be the place for parts.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
My trusted mechanic has gone through the car in detail, and has recommended a bunch of work, from simple stuff like new hoses to some bigger ticket items like a new master cylinder and some suspension work. We are going to get it running well first, then turn to the rest. My wife fell in love with the car quickly, and plans on keeping it patina'd. She wants it as solid a driver as it can be. She wants a driver. Once it is mechanically solid she wants an interior restoration, but she wants to leave the outside alone.
Anybody with good parts sources please speak up.

I can’t wait to see this thing in person and hear your wife go on and on about it

I recommend not doi ng any of the hoses etc. Because then she’ll ev entually blow up the engine and y ou’ll have “ no choice” but to invest in one of those K20 swap kits.

Cool! I’ve heard of these guys up in Santa Cruz for years, C. Obert & Co :
Also check out the Alfabb forums, they have a forum for other orphan cars like my Lancia and Fiats: https://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/other-italian-cars/

A 220 HP X1/ 9 would be freaking insane. Do that to it.

When I had a Corvair I found eBay had parts for it that nobody else had, like OBD2 codes readers, thermostats, and steering racks.

I’d be careful with the patina, it may become structural pretty rapidly

Somehow I missed the new X1/9 adventure, Congratulations!
As far as art sources go Bayless is good, there is also Vick Autosports down in Texas. Between the two you should be able to find most of what you would need.
Auto Ricambi is more 124 Spider specific but is available for other Fiat parts bin odds and ends.

“Structural patina” is a phrase I can find a use for.

Yeah, that's my go-to source for Corvair water pumps.

I understand the appeal of the Honda e ngine/gear b o x but it’s nicer to keep it in the family, so to speak. F o r e x a m p l e , Biturbo228's has an Uno Turbo e n g ine in it. Not exactly an easy conversion but not the end of the world either (the block of the Uno Turbo is based on the 1.5 SOHC that the X/19 came with).
On the other hand there is a guy in the States who has put a 500 Abarth engine in his. He has several videos on YouTube but right now I don’t seem to find them. I posted the links as a comment to Biturbo228's travails, but Kinja is not making it easy for me today so I cannot find them, sorry.
